Bannister's Loss May be Wizards Gain (from KC Star)

After 27 years of operations, the beleaguered Bannister Mall will close its doors at the end of May.

The mall site has been in the news recently as the Kansas City Wizards have picked a local developer to help pursue a plan to kick down the mall and build a soccer stadium and retail project. Lane4 Property Group has the exclusive agreement to evaluate potential sites for the soccer club and is focused on a sweeping redevelopment concept that would encompass the Bannister Mall and Benjamin Plaza shopping centers and the adjoining Benjamin Ranch property. The team has not ruled out sites in Kansas.

Bo Knows: The bannister mall area would probably be a solid location for the new Home of the Wizards. It is a centralized location with great highway access. Honestly, the Wizards need to get moving on finding a place to build their stadium and the Bannister Mall location might be as close to perfect as they are going to find.
